Our small and intimate school environment aims to encourage the development of unique personalities. Strengths and weaknesses are nurtured to enable the children, upon their leaving us, to be ready, not just for the academic challenges, but also the social and emotional ones that senior school inevitably presents.
We strongly believe that allowing each child to develop in their own time offers them the best chance to not only be ready for Year 7, but also to ensure that the school they finally move on to is the best one for them, both academically and socially.
The Prep School will ensure your child is well-prepared for the transition to secondary education. A high standard of academia is complemented by extracurricular activities which means your child will be happy and stimulated, becoming well-prepared for their next academic steps.
High aspirations are set throughout the school and we take great pride in our pupils' achievements. Many perform well in their entrance exams and so a high number of our pupils gain entrance to their first choice of school.
Moor Allerton Stories
Achieving Success at Moor Allerton
At Moor Allerton, we have been preparing our pupils to take entrance examinations for over 100 years. We are so proud of our pupils’ work ethic and persistence during the exam period. Year-on- year, our pupils receive offers from three selective schools on average - which is a fantastic achievement.
This academic year, our children have received offers from some of the most prestigious schools, such as Manchester Grammar School for Boys, Manchester High School for Girls, Withington Girls’ School, Stockport Grammar School, Cheadle Hulme School, St Bede’s College and more.
In fact, every year, our Year Six are recognised by the Heads and staff at prestigious senior schools throughout the country. They are described as some of the most rounded eleven year olds they could hope to receive as well as being confident communicators, knowledgeable individuals who possess clear, agile and robust and reflective thinking skills. Reflective learners who have the resilience to approach new problems with dexterity, poise, and the ability to adapt to future situations that they (and we) had not anticipated.
Academic Life
Our pupils continually earn excellent results in their Grammar school entrance exams. The strong work ethic of our Prep children is encouraged and cultivated by their experience at Moor Allerton, as we work to ensure your child is prepared for the next step in their academic life.
“The curriculum prepares pupils for life in modern Britain.” ~ ISI Inspection, 2015.
Our mixed classes are small, and our diverse curriculum allows your child to develop and learn. Regular monitoring of each child’s progress means that all children are given work appropriate to their needs. Assessments are carried out throughout the school and, with specialist support available, all children can progress. Provision for ‘gifted and talented’ pupils through their academic, sporting or artistic ability, allows them to reach their full potential.
